After seeing my pictures of Pink Plantation House on Delia’s Escapades, artist Donna Grandin contacted me to tell me she had painted the very view I’d taken a picture of!
Of course, I wanted to see the painting so here it is.
Donna explained: I painted this after a trip to the Pink Plantation House restaurant in St. Lucia a few years ago. The restaurant is actually on the left, and this is a view across the courtyard to the kitchen on the right. The buildings have attractive fretwork, the food is delicious and the decor pleasant, but it is the luscious garden that keeps drawing me back. This painting is a view within a view with the greenery creating a framework, you’re invited to step forward brushing aside the red ginger lily leaves, and enter through the open doorway.
