My guest this week is composer and dramatist Murray Gold. He has been nominated for 5 BAFTAs in his career so far, which has seen him compose for stage, film, television and radio. Murray was the musical director and composer for the hugely popular show Doctor Who, from it’s revival in 2005 until 2018 when he stepped down to take on different challenges.

Having never even considered or wanted an office job, he worked hard to forge a career in music. And while Murray had been working steadily on different dramas at the time he got Doctor Who, he never realised just how successful and longstanding the show would be. However, he never takes his work for granted.

Murray believes that because jobs like his are so sought after you always have to work to the best of your ability, if you don’t, you’re selling yourself short.
