I’ve had a really exciting week being part of the Colour of Music, Black Classical Musicians Festival in Charleston, SC. As its Global Ambassador I support the Festival in getting the news out there that Black classical musicians and their compositions should be featured and recognised more on the world stage. If you know any black classical musicians, performers, directors, conductors, choral singers, please let me know.

With me above, is Jonathan Grimbert-Barre, of The Grimbert-Barre Trio, three brothers who captivated the audience. Their style and obvious pride to perform at The Gaillard Centre as part of the Festival came across in every opportunity given to them. Their performance was the first of many things. Tenor Rodrick Dixon from Three Mo’ Tenors (PBS) and so much more…
was tremendous and gracious to talk to. I’ll let you know when our interview is aired.
Anyango Yabo-Davenport, violinist and Professor of Violin and Chair of the String Department at the Juan N. Corpas University in Bogotá, Colombia is awesome. The Virtuosi All Female Chamber Orchestra in honour of Leontyne Price’s 90th birthday set the pace for all to love her as we waited for her to do her thing at the gala. Thank you Lee Pilgrim, Founder, for not only the festival, but for seating me at Anyango’s table – friends for life now… PS: The music slab behind us was made from ice!

In the meantime, here are some highlights of the festival. For more visit www.colourofmusic.org and Facebook page Colour of Music. This clip features the Gala Performance — Knoxville: Summer of 1915 & Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast at the Gaillard Center. It was absolutely awesome!”
