A friend of mine posted a quote on social media and it stated something about “knowing your value”. It made me stop to think about the number of times I lowered my rate to suit my client’s needs. It wasn’t a good feeling and eventually my enthusiasm for my work suffered because I didn’t apply myself to produce proposals in the depth I used to.

I wouldn’t compromise on the quality of my work and produced night and day and preserved my reputation, but ultimately I recognized that I was de-valuing myself and the quality I brought to the table so I stopped working to someone else’s budget.

Does that sound familiar to you? Let’s make 2020 the year of holding on to our values – and accept work based on them.
