Saint Lucia celebrates their  Nobel Laureate’s this week and it started off with a bang! With the theme Celebrating Excellence: Forty Years On, the media did a fantastic job showing the public why the Festival was named so aptly.

Chairperson of the Nobel Laureate Festival Committee, former Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy said as it’s 26th year, 2019 was an extraordinary year to celebrate as it also marks the 40th anniversary of the award of the Nobel Prize to Sir Arthur Lewis in 1979, the same year that Saint Lucia gained its independence. She said it was an occasion “to celebrate excellence in our own achievements, to nurture …and to unlock the potential that is in all of us,”

As the Co-ordinator and Committee member of the Nobel Laureate Festival Committee, I would realise her words when I penned an article for the STAR – the Festival helps us to see the gifts of others, and with pride, acknowledge our own.
