Goodbye!

A few months ago I sat at the Colourful Radio studio with its founder Kofi Kusitor MBE, and I looked around and smiled. It felt great being there. The growth of the station, the family of presenters, the people who popped in to see the presenters at work felt so right. After my show Kofi and I went to breakfast and as a steaming cup of Espresso, no sugar, lol, was placed in front of me, I sighed and then smiled. Kofi instinctively did the same thing, then we both shook our heads. We knew something was happening.

By the end of breakfast a new show was developed and an old one had to say goodbye. It felt right and I didn’t feel sad. The Show, The Dolor Factor, had come to an end over a full English breakfast and non-sugared Espresso!

The decision also forced me to take time out. I needed it. I’d known this for a long time, but didn’t do it.

And now, having taken that “time out”, I’m starting the New Year with new ideas. I’ve discarded notions that either didn’t get off the ground, were too time-consuming, or I just didn’t have the passion for any more. I learned to say “no” more often and not feel bad about it.

I listened to the last show at 4am on 27 December 2018, I wanted to hear it as it was going out live and not as a podcast – I was not in the UK. And afterwards, the memories of all the years producing, writing, working with the team consumed the rest of my day.

Thank you Kofi, Andrea, Kate, Charlotte, Hannah and all the guests of The Dolor Factor. You all made me learn and helped me to be the person I am. Thank you to my listeners who gave me lots to think about and to my guests who always made the time, no matter where I was or what the time was, to ensure we could bring our listeners motivational stories.

The Dolor Factor lives on in TV form. More news on the way…
